A LITTLE LATE

Sometimes I win tests and fight battles

That I shouldn't have to endure

I could open my mouth and end it

But then I would never be sure

If things could have gone another way

So I shove my tail between my legs

And that is where it stays

It's so much easier to speak up

To push the other down

But the harder way's a victory

That comes without a sound

No cheers or adulation

No banners or tickertape

But the victory's 1000 times

It just comes a little late
