PART TIME

I love my part-time girlfriend

She's so good part of the time

The rest of the time she's absent

And I try not to wonder why

I guess it's good we can have this

We can have this part-time life

She can be my part-time lover

And can be my part-time wife

Sometimes she'll sleep over

At least for part of the night

Sometimes we'll share part of a glass

Of some real good part-time wine

Sometimes we'll get partly drunk

And party like it's 1999

Then for a night we're truly lovers

And make up for the lost time

Then it's back to partly dreaming

Of a life we halfway have

And I think of all the other ways

I have to make her glad

If she'd only give me her other part

I could fill in all those holes

I could help her find the things she needs

And fulfill her part-time goals

I keep a part of my heart hidden

I'm saving it for her other half

So when the day comes we're 100%

She'll be glad I held it back

Sometimes it slips out in words

That I try so hard to contain

But when you love someone

- Like I love her

It's awfully hard to restrain

So I'll keep my part time status

But still hope some day we'll be

More than a part-time something

For our love is all I see
